MARCH MEMBERSHIP MEETING Our monthly membership meeting will be held on Thursday March 1st at 8am at the Mt Airy Fire Hall (corner of Watersville Rd and Main St, park at the rear/lower level and enter through the back doors). We will have our usual hour of introductions, committee reports, and discussions of new and old business. Remember that minutes of all our monthly meetings can be found on the Chamber website at www.mtairybusiness.com Every month members also get to see all the advertising, newspaper coverage and correspondence for the past month. Following the meeting, you will also be able to sign up for the upcoming Expo. BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE A Business Card Exchange will be held Monday March 26th from 4-7pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. The event will be co-hosted by The Blossom and Basket Boutique and Carterque Barbecue and Grilling Company. Tables will be available for Chamber members to set up a display. This is a free opportunity to show your business to other Chamber members. Each business will get a 2 - 3 foot space to place business cards, fliers, samples of your wares, photos, etc. You must sign up to reserve a space, as we have a limited number of tables. In the past we have experienced a large turnout for this card exchange, as it is a wonderful opportunity to explain your business in detail to other business owners. [Membership Committee Chair Dennis Emerson, Sherman Emerson Insurance.] MAVFC DONATION A check for $2,150 was handed to the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company at our February meeting. The money has been used to purchase a Humat valve a piece of equipment that allows for more efficient water flow when multiple lines are engaged in fighting a fire. Once the valve is attached to a hydrant, it can reroute water to multiple hoses attached to a fire engine while maintaining the water pressure, providing a continuous flow of water to a fire. NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION - APRIL We will be holding a New Member Orientation immediately following our regular April meeting. All new members are invited, and our invitation extends to any interested Chamber member regardless of your length of membership. We will begin the orientation meeting by 9.15am, and will adjourn by 10am. You will hear about the many benefits of Chamber membership, and all your questions will be answered. BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE REPORT Thank you to Dana and Stan Stigdon and their staff at Super Suppers for hosting our February Business Card Exchange at their facility on Back Acre Circle. We had more than 25 members and visitors in attendance all of whom were able to take home a super supper! NETWORKING EVENT REPORT Our second speed networking event was held on February 8th at Adventure Park USA. Around 30 Chamber members and visitors attended the event which was organized by Leslie Brenneman of Costco Wholesale and Tamarah Clark of the Jeanne Bussard Center. Thank you to Leslie and Tamarah, to Costco Wholesale for providing breakfast and to Adventure Park USA for hosting us. 2007 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS We will be holding two seminars this spring. On Monday, April 23, 6-9pm the topic will be Developing Advertising Materials for Your Small Business, at the Mount Airy Library on Ridge Avenue. On Tuesday, June 12, 6.30-9.30pm the topic will be Tips and Tricks of Quickbooks, at the Carroll Community College Business Training Center. . AUDIT Treasurer Denny Ahalt, New Windsor State Bank, has received a letter from the Audit Committee reporting that all financial records are in order. AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE REPORT We will be holding a brief meeting immediately following the regular Chamber meeting on Thursday, March 1, 2007. On the agenda will be our 'Second Tuesday Drop-in Lunches', and the New Member Orientation to be held immediately following the April Chamber meeting. We have lots of Chamber Folders available: we encourage every member to have one or two on hand, whenever you meet a potential new member. Pick up a couple at the meeting!
