Celebrating 2008, Planning for 2009
Planning and celebrating is underway with the 2009 Planning Meeting, our 6th Annual Chamber Membership Drive and 25th Anniversary Celebration, and the upcoming Chamber elections.
- Elections will be held at the October 2, 2008 General Membership Meeting. All nominations must be received by September 4, 2008 to be considered.
- The 2009 Planning Meeting will be held October 30, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lorien in Mt. Airy. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Please check the website for RSVP information.
- The Chamber’s 6th Annual Membership Drive and 25th Anniversary Celebration will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Century Ford on Century Drive. When you renew your membership at this event you will receive discounted dues for 2009 and discounted opportunities to sign up for the 2009 Mt. Airy Phone Book and Community Expo. This is one event you don’t want to miss so mark your calendars now!

This workshop will be presented in two (2) three-hour sessions and will focus on the basics of Microsoft Excel 2003. You will learn how to construct simple worksheets, create formulas and functions, format cell contents, and develop charts. See how to track business events and financials! Includes Excel Level One text book. The cost is free and registration is open to current Mt. Airy Chamber members only. Class size is limited to 14 so register NOW!

Instructor Panel: Doug Heck, Doug Howard, Ben Rogers and Chris Smith
Presented in a three hour panel format, this course provides instruction and guidance to small business owners on how to prepare for, and handle, insured and uninsured disasters. Hear from, and ask questions of, four experts in the areas of commercial insurance, business planning and accounting, investments, and business computer technology. Learn how best to invest and insure, as well as what to plan for, what to prevent, and what to do when the inevitable happens. To register for this workshop, you must be a current Mt. Airy Chamber member or a paid guest of the Chamber. The cost is FREE to Chamber members and $10 for guests.

Speed Network Lunch
Join us for a Speed Network Lunch to be held September 18, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at The Greene Turtle, 1604 Ridgeside Drive. For those who have never attended an event like this, it is similar to speed dating or musical chairs with a networking twist. The cost is $12.00 which includes lunch. To register mail a check made payable to GMACC to 6405 Mill Run Court, Frederick, MD 21703.
