Professional Development
Did you know that the GMACC offers workshops and seminars to assist members in their professional
development? Workshops presently being planned include Excel 2003 Level One (a two part workshop)
in September, Disaster Planning in mid-October, and a Human Resources and Hiring workshop
in early November.
Better yet, the GMACC offers members an opportunity to sponsor the workshops. If you would liketo become a sponsor, please contact the chair of the Professional Development Committee, Marlene Titus, via email at mtitus@carrollcc.edu or by phone at 410-386-8012.
Mt. Airy Trivia
Congratulations to Richard Stein of Smith Barney who was the first person to correctly respond to the
Trivia Question which was sent out to the Mt. Airy Business News List on July 16, 2008. The correct
answer was Excel in September, Disaster Planning in October, and Human Resources and Hiring in November. Richard received a $25 gift certificate to Ridgeville Service Center.
For those of you who did not receive the email with the trivia question, register by sending an email
to mtairybusinessnews-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. It doesn’t matter what you put in the subject
line or message body. Once you have subscribed you will receive the upcoming Trivia Questions and you can post your news by sending an email to mtairybusinessnews@yahoogroups.com.
Remember, a given member can only win once!
Community Calendar
Look for the new Community Calendar on the Chamber website. This calendar will be
used for community events in the Mt. Airy area that are not sponsored by the GMACC.
This includes charity events, golf tournaments, town events, etc. There is no fee to post
events. Contact Brian Jacobs at bjacobs@rednoodle.com for information.

Webmaster RFP Time Line
Following are the dates for the Webmaster RFP:
August 11, 2008 - RFP sent out to members
August 29, 2008 - Bids will be due
September 8, 2008 - Bidders presentations
September 15, 2008 - Contract awarded
September 19, 2008 - Contract signed
October 1, 2008 - Webmaster term begins
Nominations & Elections
Nominations for Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer will be formally announced at the September general membership meeting, with elections to occur in October.
