2008 COMMUNITY EXPO
Make plans to attend the 2008 Community Expo
on April 19, 2008. This will be an event the
whole family will want to attend with plenty of
food, prizes, shopping, and kids activities. A few
things you won’t want to miss include: mouth
watering food by Convenience Catering; a live
remote radio broadcast by Key 103; a magic
show; face painting and balloon sculpting; visits
from Elmo, Clifford and Mickey Mouse; free
blood pressure screening; free moon bounce and
other kids activities; crab racing; dance, gymnastic
and karate performances by local studios; the
MedEvac helicopter is scheduled to appear; plus
the best of Mt. Airy’s businesses.
In addition, parents can participate in Operation
Kidsafe, a free child ID and safety program. This
state of the art digital fingerprinting and photo
equipment is quick and has no messy ink. Plus
there are important safety tips parents can use
right away to protect their child. The Chamber
wants to thank Tim Barkley of Barkley Law Offices
for sponsoring Operation Kidsafe’s attendance
at the 2008 Expo.
CHAMBER PARTNERSHIPS
The Chamber continues to strengthen our partnerships
with other business organizations
throughout the local community. Our goal with
these partnerships is to offer our members an
ever greater return on their investment with the
GMACC membership dues. The Frederick
County Chamber of Commerce has agreed to
extend a $100 discount to GMACC members
who join their chamber. This benefit alone offsets
more than 100% of our dues.
The South Carroll Business Association and the
Carroll County Chamber of Commerce also allow
GMACC members to attend their events at
no additional cost. These three partnerships become
a powerful communication tool for any
GMACC member. The GMACC is truly a gateway
to various networking groups in the region
and the logical first organization that a business
owner should look to when trying to market
their business.
CONNECTIONS/CELEBRATION
Join us Thursday, May 8, 2008 for a joint networking event sponsored by Mt. Airy Health Services,
Greater Mt. Airy and Frederick County Chambers, Carroll Hospital Center, and Frederick Memorial
Hospital. There is no charge for this event, but RSVP to the Carroll County Chamber is required.
This event will be held at Mt. Airy Health Services, 1502 South Main Street, Mt. airy from 4:30-6:30
p.m. To RSVP please contact the Carroll County Chamber at 410-848-9050.
WEB SITE ADVERTISEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Looking to advertise to GMACC members?
We are still taking applications for a limited number of slots
to display a banner ad throughout our website. As you move
through the site you will see the available ads along the right
side of the page. By clicking on one, you will be directed to
an application. It’s that easy! It will also be that easy for visitors
to our site to click on your company information and go
directly to your company’s website. This opportunity is only
available to members and is on a first-come basis.
APRIL BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE
The next Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce
(GMACC) Business Card Exchange will be hosted by Lorien
Mt. Airy on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
this event is co-sponsored by Forever Flowers and Tim’s
Lawn and Landscape Service. Our business card exchanges
are an excellent time for anyone to network with the fastest
growing chamber in the region. This event is free to members
and non-members alike.
GIVE BLOOD, SAVE A LIFE
The Chamber would love to hold a blood drive during the
2008 Community Expo but we need 45 people to pledge to
donate before we can ask the Bloodmobile to come to the
event. Currently we have 12 people signed up.
To donate blood you need to be at least 17 years of age (16

good health.
