our next Chamber meeting on Thursday December 2nd.

submit payment by Monday 12/6/04. Do not miss out on this offer!

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE REPORT
Our 2004 Membership Drive held at Century
Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep on Nov 16th was a great success. Catered by New York J & P Pizza, 77 people shared in the event surrounded by new
cars and a beautiful atmosphere with balloons by The Main Event.
We had many members renew and were very pleased to have
several new members and guests with us.
The door prize, a snow blower, donated by Tractor Supply
Co, was won by Michelle Hopkins of Connect Solutions Nextel.
Congratulations to Michelle.
Special thanks go to Keir Knight of Plain English Writing
& Design for arranging and supervising the event and to membership Secretary
Audrey Stapf of StapfCrafters Woodworking for her work in receiving
applications.
It was a wonderful evening and we would like to thank Frank

for their help and support.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Look out for two Chamber ads to run in December, wishing
everyone a Happy Holiday season. The ads will feature the names of all our 2004
members. The ad will be in The Messenger on Wednesday 15th and The Gazette on Thursday 16th.
EDC WEBSITE
The Chamber’s website - www.MtAiryBusiness.com - is now host
to pages featuring the Mount Airy Economic Development Commission.
The EDC pages, which are sponsored by Illiano Properties,
have already been featured on the front page of the Carroll County Times and
will bring even more traffic to our site.
Special features include listings of available commercial
space for lease and links for businesses seeking loans.

A MAIN STREET CHRISTMAS & PARADE
This spectacular community event will take place from 3-8pm
on Saturday December 4th.
There will be games for kids, concerts and carol singing, a
tree lighting, and Santa’s Parade at 5.30pm.
Just about every local and civic group is taking part or
contributing time, money and resources.
The Chamber’s Ellie Bonde of The Blossom & Basket Boutique and Jackie Bingham of Patches Quilting & Sewing were a driving force
behind this event, representing The Downtown Business Association.
The Chamber was proud to do its part by allocating $613.28 to
place half-page ads promoting the event in The Messenger and The
Gazette.
The Chamber and The Gazette are also running another
Santa Coloring Competition. Thank you to Gazette editor Carol Blackburn for her
great support of both initiatives.
OPEN HOUSE
Also on Saturday December 4, from 10 am to 3pm, Weekenders fashion coordinator
Donnis Klein is holding an open house - with holiday gift ideas and more. You
can contact Donnis at (301) 829-2928. She invites everyone to stop by before
heading into town to see Santa!
2005 PLANNING MEETING
Members are encouraged to attend the planning meeting for 2005 Chamber
activities. This will be held on Wednesday, January 26 at 1pm at Lorien Assisted
Living. Please come with new ideas and topics, etc. Lunch will be served, so
please RSVP to Paula Wilhelm at 301-829-6050, ext. 112 by January 19.
POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
Two of our members - Ray Miller of New Horizon Van Lines and Keir Knight of Plain English Writing & Design will be "taking the
plunge" on January 29, so anyone wishing to support the Maryland Special
Olympics in this way can contact them to make a pledge.
