Lately my inbox has been flooded with back-to-school sales, and while Aubryn is starting preschool this Fall, I haven’t been paying attention to any of the amazing deals in those emails. Until last week. We went to the store for a usual grocery run and ventured into the home goods side of the store to pick up a few things for a project. And then I saw it. The back-to-school section. Remember how awesome it was to see that section as a little kid (everything changed in high school… haha)?! New crayons! Locker decorations! Folders with your favorite characters on them! It was always awesome. So I decided to check out some of the deals and realized that I could use a lot of these items, even though I’m not really getting ready to send any kids back to school. Here are six items you might want to consider buying right now. 1. Crayons. If your house is anything like ours, you go through these quickly. Right now, they’re 75% off, 50 cents for a box of 24! We stocked up and are going to start breaking out a new box every six months or so to replace all those hard to use broken bits. They’re so cheap you can even buy a box just to break up and use for some fun end-of-summer projects like this 2. Notebooks and lined paper. Perfect for throwing in your purse to keep your little one entertained on the go, using as journals, or just having around the house for random notes and things. This is about the only time this stuff ever goes on sale since they are already pretty cheap, but at 50 cents a piece, you really can’t go wrong. 3. Calendars and planners. With summer on its way out, most of us are changing up our schedule a bit, especially if we have kids that are going back to school. This is a great time to get those schedules and events down on paper where everyone can see them and you can keep track of different pick-up times, sports practices, and get back into the school days groove. 4. Towels. Another item you can rarely catch on sale. Trade out your rattiest bathroom towels for some nice, new ones, or just switch up the decor in your bathroom with a fresh pop color. 5. Bedding. We’ve been in the process of redecorating the bedrooms in our house and are eyeing all of these bedding sets that are currently on sale. Since most college kids need bedding for a twin or full, there are tons of awesome sheets and comforters on sale now in these sizes, which are perfect for your little ones! If your little one is still in a crib or toddler bed, you can easily make a full sheet work for either by cutting it in half and adding elastic! A super simple trick that can save you a ton of money. 6. Kitchen items. Aubryn has officially graduated from our set of mini bowls and plates from Ikea, and the brightly colored sets that are on sale for college kids were the perfect replacement. Plastic, fun and super cheap, they’re just right for your little ones who need a little more room for their food but aren’t quite ready to use your nice dinnerware. Have you taken advantage of any back-to-school sales yet? Any other deals we should know about? I’d love to hear!
